'Show Popup' feature does not work anymore in Android 10 - New Solution

tbener I rechecked the permissions, and maybe from my playing I messed it.

Which permission did you missing? There is no new permission. So I am wonder why this should not work.

You should at least see the notification on the lockscreen. Or is this also not shown?

chrisonline Nonthing new. That's so weird but the "Show as pop-up" toggle for the Default notification settings was off. I have no idea how it got to be off.
On the same screen, I have the "Lock screen" settings, which has the options: Show content | Hide content | Do not show notification.
The selected one is "Show content" but I dont see it. I see only one icon (which is the group of all the 10 active reminders I currently have)

If the system shows the dialog, behind the lock screen, it will not show a notification.
This is the cause why you don't see the notification on the lockscreen or only the notification icon but without text.

The system shows always the "heads up" OR the dialog.
And the dialog is behind the lockscreen.

So it seems this is also not an ideal solution :-(

I have now changed it again a little bit.
Now if the screen is off the screen will turn on AND will unlock your phone.
Now you see the popup directly. The same as if you are getting a phone call or an alarm from an alarm clock.

I will upload this change soon to the beta channel.
Please test and let me know what you think.

Can we have an option to not have the screen turn on. The way it is now, the screen turns on and shows the popup and I feel like I'm going to accidently dismiss it without seeing it is much prefer the screen stay off and only get some kind of popup or heads up notification when it's turned on and unlocked

As of the docs the screen is turning in. The same as when you get an call.

But I will again check if I can find an option who doesn't turn the screen on.
As far as I know as of the last tests if I haven't turned the screen on I haven't seen the popup ☹️

AlpsWizard I understand you, but sadly as I wrote Android does not allow this anymore.
If I don't turn the screen on you don't see the popup at all. Android does not show it even if I am calling it.

Sadly I didn't find any workaround because Android controls this since Android 10.
On Android 10 Google does not allow to show a popup from the background anymore.
Only if the app is already open.

The only option was to send it as "High Priority" and turn the screen on.
In this case it works, but in all other cases Google does not allow a popup from the backup anymore :-(

chrisonline Thanks Chris! Pl keep trying, keep looking to have some workaround. I am an optimist & like to believe everything is possible in I.T. I've started facing issues with other apps as well after android 10 update. I personally feel most updates ruin good features!
